ABOUT US

Tyne and Queer is a disabled- and queer-led live music promotions CIC based in the North East, founded by Beck Carol in 2020.

We work closely with local venues that share our values and are committed to making the North East's live music scene more accessible for everyone.

We're proud to be doing something truly different.
As far as we're aware, nobody else in the North East is creating the kind of queer-led, community-focused live music experiences that we are.
Much of the industry here is still dominated by straight men in their forties, and we exists to break that barrier and create opportunities for people who have traditionally been left out of the conversation.

We're not driven by profit.
As a non-profit organisation, our focus is on supporting artists, creatives, venues, and audiences.
Fair pay, safer spaces, accessibility, and genuine community care sit at the centre of everything we do.

We also bring artists and creatives from across the UK and around the world to the North East, creating live music experiences that haven't really existed here before!

Our goal isn't just to put on gigs, it's to build a community where people aren't simply included, but centred.
We've been growing that community for the past four years and we're excited to keep pushing that vision forward with the support of the people who believe in what we do.

What started as a small one off fundraiser gig five years ago, has grown into monthly regular gigs celebrating great noise makers (musicians) from all across the world.
Our values will always stay the same: enjoy yourself, support each other, and help create a welcoming space for everyone.

Tyne and Queer is committed to providing safe, inclusive spaces in venues that share our values across the North East.
A place where everyone can enjoy live music, regardless of gender, sexuality, race, religion, or ability. We’re proud of the wonderfully strange community we’ve built in the North East and want to make sure it continues to thrive for years to come.

LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER

Enjoy the music at your own pace.
If you need a break, some quiet time, or support, speak to a member of our volunteer team. (Normally on the door!)
Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.

RESPECT EACH OTHER

We’re all here because we bloody love live music.
We have zero tolerance for hate, discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour.
Anyone found breaking these rules will be asked to leave.
We have teamed up with SHOUT-UP! To continue working on our zero tolerance policies.

LOOK AFTER OUR COMMUNITY

We're proud to call Newcastle home.
Please help us keep our local spaces clean by using bins, respecting the venues, and being considerate of all around you.
